Update

Met the group, they are more or less as expected. We are 14 in my group, varying from the very young and clueless(16 yrs old high school drop-outs), the very loud middle-aged women too busy and too important to follow ordinary schedules and rules, the helplessly clueless I-want-to-make-money-but-don't-know-how, to the lazy I-want-money-but-don't-want-to-work types. Yes, I'm being mean <_< but I had to work hard the first two days not to let my intelligence be offended. I'm pretty sure the 58 years old lady who's worked on her farm all her adult life until her back gave out, but just needs another job and the 40 something oil-engineer who got his foot crushed in an accident have done the same. We're looking forward to 4 weeks of motivational shite where we learn how to make CVs and job-applications.

Today was a one-on-one meeting with the teacher where we had to 'tell our stories' -puke- and present our thoughts and wishes for the future. I absolutely loath talking about my health issues, especially to a stranger, but I do see the necessity of it as these people are supposed to help you find some work that fits. I have to give it to the teacher I talked to, when we could talk about jobs and possibilities it became interesting. He had some suggestions I hadn't thought of. Nice!

I do believe that this company is good at what they do, their various projects and cooperation with local firms seem to be well thought out, tried out and successful. Their knowledge about the systems and helpful items/apparatus to make things easier or possible is definitely vast and useful.

Bottom line, I do believe they will help me work out a way for me to get back into the active workforce without ending up a cripple.

I promised myself I'll go into this with a positive state of mind, and I'll keep working on being open-minded and not judge the others too hard just yet

  1. Awww. Yah, you can do this. Try to ignore the annoying stupid people and do this for yourSELF. All the best thoughts and wishes and vibes in the world from me. It'll work out in the end, I'm sure. :)

  2. It's really hard not to judge sometimes. Just don't let your actions towards those people be affected by your feelings. :)

Believe me, I know how being surrounded by "intellectually lower" people can get a little frustrating and your eyes can roll a bit more than needed. If you go back and read my blog a few years ago when I was in my biology class, prime examples. Just gotta be nice, smile and work harder on yourself. Not judging people is certainly a challenge for me this year too. :) We can do it!

  3. Yes. I've managed to stay positive and I've gotten to know the group members better, we're getting along pretty well all of us from youngest to oldest.

I've gotten some new ideas for a future career which I hope will work out. It's more or less settled what the next step will be, so cross fingers with me that it goes my way ;-)
